George Harrison wrote this iconic song around the time of The Beatles’ impending break-up; I find Harrison’s lyrics poignant involving a break-up of a different kind. The song is lovely – the sparseness of the lyrics only adds to its poignancy – and Phil Spector’s “Wall of Sound” production gives it its’ majestic touch.

Isn’t it a pity
Now, isn’t it a shame
How we break each other’s hearts
And cause each other pain
How we take each other’s love
Without thinking anymore
Forgetting to give back
Isn’t it a pity

Some things take so long
But how do I explain
When not too many people
Can see we’re all the same
And because of all their tears
Their eyes can’t hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn’t it a pity

Typical shallow, elitist liberal activism – expect someone else to pony up $ for a solution they don’t want to fix themselves. If you’re that riled up about homelessness, why not take real action and band together to invite homeless people to move in with you? You know why? Because deep down they despise the homeless and think they’re better than them. But it’s so much easier to inconvenience yourself for just one night and go back to your warm lodging and kick back with cocktails and slap yourself on the back to “daring to take a stand!”

Not for nothing, but if this sliver of interview isn’t enough for the Trump administration to call everyone’s bluff and enact an executive order for mandatory Voter ID and paper ballots for 2020 federal elections (the various states can do what they wish for all inner-state elections), then I don’t know what is. Talk about being handed the golden goose of opportunity!

Whaddaya you expect? Dude was a rapper, not a nuclear physicist.

Just the latest example of why I have come to believe that Pope Francis is nothing more than an agent of Satan bent on destroying Christianity in the world. He won’t succeed, of course, but it won’t be for his lack of trying!

Slo’ Joe Biden is looking older and more foolish every day. Every time I see that sh*t-eating grin I think he’s assuring me that the $1500 for window tinting added to my used car purchase will save me money in the long run.

We are living in truly historic times. I wonder what the future holds for China? I guarantee you this kind of thing would not be happening had Hillary Clinton be elected president. The people in Hong Kong see President’s Trump’s bullishness on display and they find the courage to respond accordingly.

…which makes me wonder what Iran would be like today had Barack Obama stood behind the massive protests at the time. But he couldn’t, because there was too much money at stake. Which brings me to this thought:

From the very beginning I’ve always suspected this alone was what the whole Russia and Ukraine thing was all about. For who knows how long the federal bureaucracy – involving both parties – has been getting rich off of foreign policy and foreign investments. They all thought the golden goose was going to get even more golden with the mother of all shakedown artists and crime families being elected president, but then that damned outsider and non-politician Donald Trump gets elected and they freak out because everyone in the nation’s intelligence community, State Department, and the mainstream media know damned well their fingerprints were on everything designed to prevent Trump’s election and, ab that, his removal from office. If you want to blame the likes of Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, and Jerrold Nadler, fine, but you can bet that there are some very big Republicans who want this impeachment thing to go nowhere, though not for the reasons one might expect. They’re all filthy, their hands are all dirty, and now they’re left with a bag of dog-sh*t called impeachment hanging around their necks.

I truly think they thought that Trump, being a political neophyte, could be tricked into doing something they could actually impeach him for, but, whether he was too street-smart or just politically dumb, he and his campaign and family never fell for it. It was almost like a game of chicken being played for the highest stakes to see which side blinked. Now it’s the Democrats who have blinked and you can bet that, even if they do end up voting for impeachment, the Republicans in the Senate will squash it like a bug lest the President and his team even begin to think of calling witnesses.

Call it the cynic in me, I don’t believe any of them – the President, the Democrats, nor the Republicans. Everyone is now looking to find a way out, and we’ll see just how much the Democrats truly want to pursue this in the days ahead. Everyone is going to be looking to save some kind of face because there are literally trillions of dollars at stake, and I have a sneaky feeling that Ukraine was the main avenue through which influence and money flowed.

…don’t believe me? Don’t you find it curious that it has taken a small, fledging news network to get their hands dirty and do the kind of investigative journalism the big networks and newspapers used to do? I certainly do, but like the whole Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein stories, investigative journalism is dead because of the incestuous relationship between the media and both political parties in Washington.

Call it the “Deep State” or “The Swamp”, but shouldn’t it be at least questioned why what could be the greatest political scandal in perhaps the nation’s history has no takers?

It’s a new work week but I’ve got this George Harrison classic on my mind.

Everyone has choice
When to and not to raise their voices
It’s you that decides
Which way will you turn
While feeling that our love’s not your concern
It’s you that decides

No one around you
Will carry the blame for you
No one around you
Will love you today and throw it all away
Tomorrow when you rise
Another day for you to realize me
Or send me down again

As the days stand up on end
You’ve got me wondering how I lost your friendship
But I see it in your eyes

Though I’m beside you
I can’t carry the blame for you
I may decide to
Get out with your blessing
Where I’ll carry on guessing

How high will you leap
Will you make enough for you to reap it?
Only you’ll arrive
At your own made end
With no one but yourself to be offended
It’s you that decides

As I’ve said, I got some serious thinking to do about certain things going into the new year. The years are getting shorter and one’s time all the more precious.

It’s officially “car swap weekend” here at the Richard hacienda, where Tracey takes delivery of her 2018 Nissan Murano, I take the 2015 Nissan Maxima as my car, and sis-in-law Tam gets the 1999 Saturn SL2 to give her some well-deserved freedom. Another 2019 goal checked off the list just before the “rolling of the year”. And while this is going on:

The “All Creatures Great and Small” Christmas episode, Merry Gentlemen never fails to help get you in the holiday spirit. Last night we watched it for, like, the 123,097th time and it was just as fun as ever. The late Robert Hardy as Sigfried steals the show.

Sure, the economy is going great guns and the employment numbers are drop-dead great, but all the Democrats talk about is impeachment. Talk about being out of touch.

Every time I see “Slo’ Joe Biden, he looks older than the last time. Democrats, is this really the guy you’re planning on running against Trump? He looks 150 years old and if he’s thin-skinned now, wait ’til Trump gets him on a debate stage. It won’t be pretty, I can tell you that.

If you like weather, you gotta check out It’s fun to see what’s coming your way.

I’m kinda bummed about my Hillary Clinton prediction of a while back – I truly thought she’d be in the race by now. It ticks me off because I’m supposed to be unfathomable in my predictions! That being said, I still believe she will run and be the Democratic nominee, but it will likely take a brokered convention to nominate her. In the end it really doesn’t matter: Democrats know they need a sacrificial lamb for 2020 to get destroyed by Trump in order to regroup and re-brand the Party in advance of 2022 and 2024.

..speaking of aged politicians, why is the Democratic leadership so friggin’ old? You can’t tell me the Party can’t do better than the likes of “Slo’ Joe, “San Fran Nan” Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, and Chuck Schumer? My God, these people are awful! As folks who frequent this site know, I’m no fan of Democrats and liberals, but I can’t help but wonder where the younger talent of the Democrats are. Like them or not, it’s the likes of Adam Schiff and “the Squad” who are the future of the Party, and voters ought to be able to have something “unfossilized” to choose from.

Buh Bye.

…were I a Democrat I think my choice would be Andrew Yang. Sure, he’s different and a bit unorthodox, but I think his socialist views are the future of the Party and worth a deeper look. There’s most certainly an undercurrent out there desperate to be freed from the senile used-car salesman.

Agree with the Boston Globe’s Chad Finn here: Dwight Evans deserves to be in baseball’s Hall of Fame.

It’s December, the subscriptions to Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine are cancelled, I have zero desire to watch golf on TV, and equal desire to pick up my clubs. It feels very strange. Normally by this time I’d be starting to get the itch to go play but it seems to be gone. I’ve got a very big decision to make in the next couple of weeks.

You look at this and wonder why more folks just don’t come out and say that LGBTQ activists are a bunch of perverts. These people are pathologically sick and evil beyond words, and I’m not afraid to say it.

…and of course, right on cue, the mainstream media pushes the destruction of marriage by celebrating polyamorous relationships. Here’s my question: is there anything the liberal left doesn’t want to see destroyed in America? The older I get, the more I see these people as demented. I am soooo glad I’m in my sixties so I’m not going to have to deal with this sh*t that much longer.

There’s something about December that makes me want to listen to the music of George Harrison. No question that Lennon and McCartney were the creative driving forces behind The Beatles, but you’ll get argument from me as far as who produced the best stuff after their break-up. George (it doesn’t seem right to refer to him as “Harrison”, does it?) produced a great mix of songs over his solo career and became as unique a slide guitar virtuoso as Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour. Just a few examples are “Cheer Down”, “Your Love Is Forever”, “Be Here Now”, and “Beautiful Girl”, “Pisces Fish”, and “What Is Life”. And that’s just a few examples!

…for slide guitar technique, compare Harrison’s slide work on the outro to “Cheer Down” and “Isn’t It A Pity” (with Phil Spector’s production) with Gilmour’s work on “One Of These Days”. Two verydifferent styles, but pretty cool nonetheless…

Two great recreations of Pink Floyd’s “Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast”, “Rise and Shine” (Gilmour’s steel guitar) and “Morning Glory”.

Get woke, go broke:

When the news recently broke that Chick-fil-A has decided that The Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes are no longer worthy to receive Chick-fil-A’s funding specifically for espousing the values that Chick-fil-A itself once famously and successfully defended, the nation was shocked.

As the disturbing facts have continued to unfold, it is becoming painfully evident that the company is in the midst of collapsing from within. What the enemies of Chick-fil-A and freedom could not do, Chick-fil-A is rapidly doing to itself.

IRS records show that Chick-fil-A started abandoning S. Truett Cathy’s principles several years ago as it began quietly funding LGBTQ and abortion activists, along with the radical, hateful and divisive Southern Poverty Law Center.

It’s a crying shame that the mainstream media treats this lovely, gracious First Lady with such hatred and vitriol. They’re nothing bunch a bunch of vile, hateful pigs.

Chick-fil-A’s ceasing to fund The Salvation Army is just the final step in declaring which side of the culture war Chick-fil-A is now leaning.

As Salvation Army bells ring this Christmas season in a mighty chorus across the nation on behalf of feeding and assisting the needy, every toll of every bell will cause people to ponder the current sad state of Chick-fil-A.

…In a time when Christian business men and women are routinely attacked and sued for simply living out their faith, the Cathy family has inspired millions with their courage and humility. Now we feel abandoned and hurt.

President Ronald Reagan taught us “personnel is policy.” Today, my earnest prayer is that Dan Cathy will see his way clear to rooting out employees within the company who are destroying its Christian legacy and all that his father worked so hard to build. Since the problem has obviously been festering below the surface for several years, it won’t be easy.

But Dan Cathy can count on his loyal base to again rally to his side if he chooses to do the right thing. It’s not a question of supplying a great product, because everyone knows that Chick-fil-A chicken is delicious. But it’s never been just about the chicken for Chick-fil-A’s most fervent fans.

Love Chick-fil–A but I can tell you they’re off my visit list, like, forever. Companies that give into the LGBTQ activist fascists have no place in my purchasing world.

You read stories like this and you understand just how racist the Democratic Party is. Heaven forbid their slaves reject the idea of public school education while they’re sending their own to private schools. Typical liberal hypocrisy.

Yes, America, this is a tweet from one of your leading Democratic presidential contenders. Do whatever you want, make whatever bad decisions you make, ol’ Joe Taxpayer will come to your rescue. No responsibility. No accountability. What a clown!

Just another reason why I love this president. President Trump not only lives in their heads, but reveals just how utterly inhuman they are. A little give-and-take humor goes a long, long way, folks!

Angela Merkel is nothing more than an alternate universe Hitler. Knowing Germany’s past, she’s playing with fire but seems oblivious to it. You can only push folks so far before they overreact.

Why didn’t I have teachers like this back in Tewksbury Memorial High School? (Hat tip: Instapundit)

Funniest headline of the year: Recently Pardoned Turkey Found Dead After Claiming To Have Dirt On Hillary Clinton. I’d almost believe it to be true!

You know, I watch this band of shrews in action and understand exactly who Roger Waters was writing about when he wrote this Pink Floyd classic.

…speaking of which, this is just the greatest performance of “Comfortably Numb”. It shows just how damned good Pink Floyd was as a band. And why lots of folks pick David Gilmour’s solos on this song the greatest of all time. Why, he’s even better than Steely Dan! (Goodboys /sarc)

There’s something seriously wrong with Joe Biden, and the fact that he’s the Democrats’ front-runner tells you all you need about the ethical and moral bankruptcy of the Party. Stop the embarrassment for your own damned good, for Chrissakes!
