It’s the first weekend of August, one of my favorite months of the year. For some reason, it gets me feeling all poetic and sentimental, so you can expect some poetry posts over the next few weeks. Until then…
The bee/swimming pool situation is in its final stage. Post and pics to come.
I feel really bad about the whole Cecil the lion business lions are majestic animals, and I can’t understand why people would want to kill them. Same thing with rhinos and elephants. That being said, it’s disheartening to me that the Cecil story is getting far more play than those Planned Parenthood videos, which are truly disgusting. How these people can look themselves in the mirror each day is beyond me. These are grotesque people, Nazi wannabees disguising their ghastly work under the cover of “women’s health”. Riiiiiight…
I really wonder how much longer Democrats are going to put up with Hillary Clinton’s quest for the Democratic nomination. Her desire for control is pathological, she’s a vile shakedown artist and a congenital liar incapable of speaking anything remotely related with the truth, and, to top it off, just a lousy candidate. If she wasn’t Hillary Clinton she’d be facing jail time.
I wonder if Donald Trump’s position in the race for the GOP nomination has crested. We’ll see – this coming week’s Republican debate ought to be really interesting. I still like Rick Perry, but Carly Fiorina has grabbed my attention, fer shure.
Sad to see Rob’s CrabApple Lane blog go the way of the kiwi. Loved his photographs and will miss the passion he brought to LSU and N.O. Saints football. Dave E’s Fish Fear Me blog is still around, however, and you can always say hi to Rob there in reply to his comments. I can understand it – after so many years blogging it’s hard to keep posting and thinking your doing something interesting and unique. I don’t blog as much as I used to, but it’s still a release.
The Red Sox were smart to hold pat at yesterday’s trading deadline – they can use the rest of the year to evaluate talent ahead of the coming off-season. Or the Red Sox were stupid to hold pat – this year is lost and they should have tried to make a big splash and trade some prospects to get themselves some decent pitching ahead of next year. Which is it?
I guess there’s a part of me still in Goodboys mode. Even though it’s a (for us) muggy 110 out there I feel like hitting golf balls.
Thanks for the kind words, GWS. I do have a less robust version of the blog going on Google at

It will be some new stuff, some old stuff, and some of whatever else I can think of. I won’t be posting as much, though. The maintenance, the headaches, the guilt, and the expense are all gone.
