Assuming nothing – it’s pointless otherwise – there are still high hopes for 2015. As Voltaire once wrote, “history is a pack of lies we play on the dead”. I don’t know exactly what that means, but our goal is to have history record that we killed all our non-mortgage debt once and for all in 2015. We did a great job the last two months of the year clearing out approx. $15K from our overall debt (amazing what happens when you max out your 401K contributions!), so now the focus is on nailing the rest of it by end of 3Q.

There are only 53 days until my Vegas weekend. I know what you’re thinking: isn’t going to Vegas for a weekend with my Goodboys friends and paying down our debt contradictory? Like, say, Barack Obama and the rule of law? Or Hillary Clinton and the hoi polloi? Well, yeah, but tradition is tradition and it’s only three nights. Get in, have a few laughs, cocktails, and a round of golf or two, then it’s back to monastery and a life of, like Dave Ramsey is wont to say, rice and beans and beans and rice.

Speaking of the Goodboys, it may still be too early for the initial scrum and scrub of bets, challenges, and talking trash, but the Goodboys will celebrate 25 – count ’em, 25! – years of Goodboys Invitationals the weekend of July 17-19. Word is we’re gonna try and emulate the Pilgrims and bring our various boats ashore in historic Plymouth, Mass., but I dare not speak for EXEC-COMM (those two dudes in the picture). I sure hope given such a momentous occasion they’re at least starting to contemplate what special features (or lack thereof) will (or won’t) be incorporated into this year’s event. It seems so far away now, but the way time passes these days, July will be here before you know it.

Did I mention that this is the year I turn 60? I mean, who woulda thunk it. I shiver at the thought.
