Might the Red Sox land the Kung Fu Panda after all? While I wasn’t crazy about the idea of the Sox reaching out to Pablo Sandoval, it actually makes sense in a couple of ways. First, it fills a gaping wide hole a third base and thankfully ends the Will Middlebrooks era; Second; given his shape and weight one might be concerned about him holding up for the next 5-6 years, but he’s only going to have to play third until David Ortiz retires. Then he slides into the DH role. Third, it might show Jon Lester that the Red Sox are serious about tossing the cabbage around to get back to the American League post-season.

A Red Sox lineup with Sandoval at third and Lester back at the top of the rotation would certainly give the team a different look going into the 2015 season.
