Excuse me while I try and work up some tears about the so-called “botched execution” of convicted killer Clayton Lockett. Compared to what he was convicted of in a court of law, I think, frankly, he got off kind of easy. Definitely easier than the poor girl he raped and buried alive after shooting her in the head. As I’ve mentioned in this place before, I depart from many of my Roman Catholic faith when it comes to the death penalty. While I wholeheartedly agree that life is a precious gift, you give up your right to live when you take it away from someone else in a premeditated fashion.
I have no sympathy for Clayton Lockett, and I doubt God will either. Others can pray for his soul, and God in His own loving and merciful fashion may indeed unlock the key to Lockett’s eternal life, but you won’t find me praying for his soul. While it doesn’t surprise me in the least, it bothers me that the mainstream liberal media will focus on the relatively brief suffering of this monster while completely ignoring the viciousness of the crime he was convicted of. But that’s modern-day liberalism for you – even killers are victims in the end.
