This is one of the reasons I miss New England – there’s usually weather to talk about.
Got an e-mail from my folks today about the final reunion of the Doolittle Raiders – and no, that’s not a football team. These were the brave heroes who launched B-25 bombers off the rolling deck of the aircraft carrier Hornet in the first attack of the Japanese mainland in early 1942 to boost American morale show the Japanese we weren’t going to let a disaster like Pearl Harbor keep us down. Can’t help but marvel at the kind of men this country produced back in those days – certainly a different breed of cat from the spoiled, girly half-men and quiche-eating wusses this country and its public school systems have produced.
…but that’s what you get when you put Baby Boomer feminists intent on destroying masculinity at every turn will do to you. There’s a great book about this, and it ought to be on everyone’s must-read list.
Hard not to vote Tiger Woods as the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year, but I’m guessing he’d give back any one of his five wins for a single major. Hard to believe he’s gone five whole seasons without a major win. Everyone seems to think if there’s ever a year where the major venues work in Tiger’s favor, it’s 2014, where Tiger has previously won at all the major venues.
…speaking of which, if you want to keep track of how many days until the 2014 Masters, here’s your link!
I enjoy the classical music Rhode Island’s WCRI plays – especially during autumn – but they don’t play enough Boccherini for my taste. But it’s fun to hear the weather forecast for Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. Makes me want to move to Newport or Mystic, Connecticut and leave the desert Southwest behind.
…but I’d sure miss my backyard, patio, and swimming pool. Next Monday is the big day – the nursery guys will be here to plant the new queens and another bush. I’m gonna try and get some pics for y’all.
