Today felt a little more like summer around here but the shadows are getting long and the backyard plants are loving the inch of rain we got earlier this week combined with the lack of searing heat. The first pumpkins are on display at the local Fry’s and I might just get me a couple this year to add some color to the front portico. It feels like September, so here’s a poem that captures the essence of this month.
“the air is different today
the wind sings with a new tone
sighing of changes
coming
the harvest gathered
a flower, a nut
some mead, and bread
a candle and a prayer
returning the fruits
in thanksgiving
to the grove
and receiving
it’s blessing
again”

What a week it has been. Are y’all ready for the weekend? I know I sure am! The Yankees will be in town to play the Sawx, and I’ll be able to watch the game on the MLB Network tomorrow night over home-made chicken croquettes, french fries, lots of gravy, and, oh, some vegetables.
