I’ve always said this blog is just a reflection of everything I am, so if you don’t mind me bearing my soul for one post: I woke up at 3 AM to the sounds of our “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” sign scraping against the outside of the bedroom wall. I love the sound of wind at night, so I got up and checked the patio outside and was greeted a chilly wind tinkling the wind chimes and rustling the palm tree branches under a clear moonlit sky. I tried to fall back asleep, but a song poem kept rolling around in my brain. Here it is:
A wind arose at night
behind a waning shining moon
Upon palm tree branches glistening in the light
Like icicles in a lagoon.
There was a really great second verse that I knew at the time I should have written down, but I couldn’t get myself out of bed and now it’s lost to antiquity. I know what you’re thinking, but I thought it was pretty profound – at least at the time.
The second verse was really a killer. Trust me.
…looks like my post on the start of the 2013 PGA Tour will just have to wait another day.
those lines are so Rod McKuen-esque…very lovely. Keep a pad and pen at the bedside to not lose the information.
