Here’s a picture to warm the hearts of everyone out there on a chilly Arizona day. You have the ever-adorable (but ornery) Peanut (front) with her mate Cosmo, ever the elderly gentlebunny (back) going after a pile of hay on one side, and Marlie the newcomer working the other side. And it’s a damned good thing there’s a fence between them, because Peanut hates Marlie (like she has every other female bun we’ve ever had), and Marlie really just has an issue with other rabbits. We’ve thought of trying to pair up Marlie with another male, but she’s a rabbit whose switch always seems to be in the “on” position and we’re not sure who would put up with that.
Marlie does seem to appreciate at least being around the other rabbits, and everything’s OK as long as there is a fence.
The one thing Marlie loves is food – she has an insatiable appetite and is constantly eating throughout the day. She seems to have a high-enough metabolism so she isn’t fat, but you’ll never see the words “malnourished” and “Marlie” in the same sentence!
