Yeah, I know, it’s Labor Day. But this year, it’s so much more!
As I mentioned in my last post, Clint Eastwood’s ramble on the closing night of the GOP convention started going viral right after it ended. Was it a little bizarre, not a little unnerving, and more than a little misplaced amidst the usual pomp and circumstance of a national political convention? Sure. But, as the guys at Power Line blog note, removed from it’s original setting, Clint used some pretty sharp wit and got some serious digs in amidst the shaky improv. How could you tell? The fact that someone in the White House saw fit to tweet about it immediately afterwards; they knew it struck a raw nerve.
Not sure who came up with the idea of a national “Empty Chair Day” where folks are encouraged to show their support for Eastwood’s message about the empty suit in residence at the White House, but that too appears to have gone viral, with thousands upon thousands of people passing the word around via conservative bloggers and other social media. Don’t believe me? Just do a Yahoo! search on “empty chair day”; you’ll be amazed.
I know I plan to do my part (I’ll post my photo later today), if you feel the same way, and/or simply want to have some fun being a part of something that doesn’t cost anything to send a subtle (or not so subtle) message, feel free to do the same.
