R.I.P. Neil Armstrong. In an era where there are few, if any, true “heroes” that everyone can agree on, Armstrong was that kind of man. A man made of “the right stuff” in every sense of the word. I’m afraid the likes of his kind will never be seen again…
I’m a little concerned about the future path of Hurricane Isaac, as is Brendan Loy (hat tip: Instapundit).
Honestly, you can’t make this kind of story up.
All those who think either the Democrats or Republican choose a south or southeastern site for their 2016 conventions raise your hands. I’m guessing Ohio and Minnesota are safe enough choices, anyways.
I’m with Curt Schilling: I love the idea of retired and well-respected catcher Jason Varitek taking over as manager for the Red Sox. No one can dispute the guy’s knowledge and preparation, both on the field and how it relates to the clubhouse.
“I voted for FDR like 26 times”. What a great video. I hope this goes viral.
I’m really not sure how best to comment on this kind of story. I better stop there… 🙂
Speaking of raising hands: All those who thought Bobby Valentine was a good idea for that dysfunctional clubhouse, raise their hand.
On the bright side, I guess you could say this era in Red Sox history is getting a quite proper Viking funeral.

I like the blockbuster trade!
The Red Sox now have have a lot of money to get some good players. I just spent a Saturday night stripping Coco Crisp’s name & number off the back of my Red Sox jersey.
I’m putting number “6” on the back, because
Johnny Pesky had pride and appreciated the game he played as well as lived in my home town!

Uhhhh… guilty as charged, Rob, and raising my hand. One thing about blogging, the evidence is always there. From my Potpourri post of last November 30:
“So the Red Sox hire Bobby Valentine as their next manager. I don’t know if he’s going to be a success or not, but he sure as heck is going to be entertaining. Personally, I think it’s a good hire. Being manager of the Red Sox is not something you grow into, and after last year’s pathetic finish they need someone who’s going to take charge and be a commanding presence in the clubhouse.”
As Roberto diVicenzo said after throwing the Masters away by signing an incorrect scorecard:
“What a stupid I am”.
And better start making your preps, Rob, Isaac is heading in your direction. Wouldn’t surprise me to seethe track continue to move further west, even west of NO, which would not be a good thing, unless it proves to go even further west as the week goes on. Keep your head down!
