Nothing really to write about today; sufficient to say I’m escaping from the Arizona heat to join my folks and Goodboys pals for ten days of East Coast recreation. Just to find a place where the thermometer reads only two digits at 10 AM will be good enough for now! There’s plenty of golf and Goodboys Invitational-related posts coming up over the next ten days, so don’t be a stranger.
Finished up my Arizona Goodboys preparation yesterday under what would be more like Florida conditions than Arizona ones – the monsoon really pushed up the humidity and down the air temp, so it was a muggy 101 instead of last time’s broiling and dry 112. But, like they say, it’s a dry heat, right? Bullshit. I’d rather play under cloudy, muggy conditions than bright searing hot ones. I’ve settled into a pretty good pattern with my irons and short game; will they hold up under New England conditions and the bone-crushing pressure of a Goodboys Invitational? Only time will tell. But I’m as ready as I’m gonna be with a golf game in the best shape it has ever been heading into a Goodboys Invitational.
This is always an exciting time of year for The Great White Shank, and it comes as a much needed diversion from work and AZ life – not to mention a house filled presently occupied by three females and six rabbits (who’ll hopefully keep the place in one piece until I get back). 🙂 And then, friends, it’s all about debt reduction – and seriously. But there’ll be more than enough time to worry about that – for now I’ve got my swing, my strategy, and a whole host of good times, good food, and good drink ahead of me.
Catch y’all in the Eastern Daylight Time zone.
