I didn’t watch the Super Bowl – frankly, the whole thing kind of bores me. And the fact that they recruited has-been Madonna (Madonna??) to perform at half-time tells you something (not sure what) about American pop culture circa two thousand twelve A.D.
Me? I went for an aggressive walk, enjoyed the peace and quiet of an early February dusk, Valley of the Sun style, on my newly-washed down patio with a glass of Pinot Grigio, and then watched the last half of Apollo 13 – a great film by any measure. To me, a much better way to spend a Sunday evening than to get caught up in all the Super Bowl hoopla, which, as far as I’m concerned, is neither super but surely a whole lot of hoopla.
Still, as a New Englander, I hate to see New York win anything, but you have to give the majority of the pundits out there their do – even though the Patriots were favored by 3, virtually no one in the national media was picking them to win, and they turned out to be right.
But who cares? On Friday I’m meeting a few of the Goodboys in Las Vegas for our annual weekend, and I can’t wait.
