Finally, the bastard is dead. May he rot in hell.
I was going to post a couple of items today regarding our country’s economic situation, but this is too big. That can wait – after all, it’s not as if our economic problems are going away anytime soon.
Congratulations to our special forces involved in the operation and to President Barack Obama for pulling the trigger – literally – on the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. Go Navy SEALs – very well done! I especially love the fact we never asked for Pakistan’s permission and did what we needed to do, although it does appear the ISI (Pakistan’s secret intelligence agency) was involved to a certain extent. Can’t wait to hear more about the details of the operation; it must be a fantastic story to be told. I can’t wait to see the movie. (Hat tip: Hot Air)
What an incredibly fascinating age we live in, technology-wise. One of the conservative blogs I regularly follow – Free Republic – had this interesting item that came across early Sunday afternoon. Everyone was wondering what it meant; as one of the latter commenters noted, I guess now we know. I mean, how cool is that? I guess it’s hard to keep anything truly secret anymore.
The most accurate and poignant line of the day comes courtesy of Hot Air’s Allahpundit; I feel exactly the way he does:
I feel strangely low key about the news, to my surprise; since it broke a few hours ago, I’ve been thinking of the sound the second plane made when it hit the second tower. Nothing will undo it, not even this. But it’s rewarding to know that Bin Laden spent his last 10 years living like a rat and that he had to look Americans in the eye at the moment of truth. It’s better than a happy ending. It’s a just one.
This is not a moment for celebration, it is a moment to remember all of those innocents who perished nearly ten years ago and recognizing that, finally, a certain chapter in a very sad and tragic book has been now forever closed.
My God have mercy on the souls of all those whose lives were forever lost or changed as a result of the events of 9/11, and may He bless the brave men and women of our nation’s armed forces and their noble efforts to make sure justice has finally been served.
Enjoy your time in Hell, Osama – you’ve had it coming to you for quite some time. And, sorry about the lack of virgins… you should have thought about that when you were destroying the lives of innocent three-year olds and others. May God damn you and your soul.
My first reaction was “now what will they do to retaliate?”…these extremists know no end to “vindicating” the wrong that has been done. I am with the those who are very guarded and concerned about “what and where next”. Evil tends to spawn heirs and my judgment is that they are out there, plotting and planning revenge. Scary, scary.

And I bet there will be a movie about this.

I’m with you on this, Jana. My preference is that the White House would avoid politics and low-key this thing, and I truly wish they would call of the Obama trip to Ground Zero to meet with the 9/11 families. The sad truth is that nothing anyone can do can white-wash the events of that day and compensate the loss of so many innocent people. What’s done is done; if you want to call it that, we’ve settled the score.
But how many others have died in a form of vengeance or retaliation? Afghanistan, Iraq. Soldiers, civilians. I, for one, am sick of all the killing. Osama bin Laden deserved his fate, and I’m glad we finally got him. But this is not something to celebrate as if we won the Super Bowl. We can, and should, honor our brave military for carrying out this operation and bringing bin Laden to justice, but pardon me if I’m not waving the flag and chanting “USA! USA!”, or glorifying the President and his staff watching it all unfold in the situation room being portrayed as some kind of heroes. I find it all quite distasteful and grotesque.
