Thoughts while gearing up for another hard work week, but it’s worth it knowing what comes at the end…
Great Super Bowl, football-wise, right down to the last Steelers try. Was glad to see Green Bay win it – they certainly deserved it. But the rest of the show was pretty awful. Christina Aguilera’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was pathetic – is she as dumb as a stone, or what? – and the Black Eyed Peas at halftime stunk up the joint. I would have preferred Katy Perry or Lady Gaga. Or, better yet, perhaps everyone would be better off without any half-time show; let the football and the stupid commercials be the stars.
And it was a crazy day at the Waste Management Phoenix Open – with all the frost delays throughout the week, the tournament organizers went through hoops to try and get as much play in before the Super Bowl as possible. In some cases, golfers actually ended up playing the same nine holes twice in a row – one to complete the third round, the other to start the fourth and final round. The big question throughout the day was wondering when Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey’s crappy looking swing would finally start to do him in; it took until the seventh hole of the final round for Mark Wilson to finally overtake him.
…I’m hardly one to criticize someone else’s swing, so I won’t. But I do know a little thing or two about fashion on the golf course, so all I’ll say is this: if you don’t want to look like a dork wearing two gloves on your hands while you play, do yourself a big favor and at least wear gloves that match your pants, or shoes, or hat, or whatever. You’re wearing white pants and various bright colored shirts with black gloves?? How stupid is that? Find yourself some bright colors to match your hat, shoes, and gloves – there’s got to be a sponsor out there that would love to help you out. Otherwise, you look like a freakin’ clown with those black gloves.
Truck Day is tomorrow! I know there’s 8-foot high snow mounds back in New England with more on the way, but when Truck Day arrives, spring can’t be that far behind.
The Dixie Chicks performed the best rendition of the national anthem that I’ve ever heard … and I’ve heard thousands. They could do it every year as far as I’m concerned.

Live music should be for pre-game and post-game only. Do a fireworks/laser/whatever show with recorded music at halftime.
