Kicking off a week that will find me in “Viva Las Vegas” by its end. I can’t wait!
Have you ever used GoToMyPC.com to access your computer from any location in the world? I had a chance to use it over the weekend to remotely connect to my folks’ PC and fix a problem they were having. Not only is it easy to install and use – even a caveman could do it – but at $20 a month it ain’t that bad an investment. The Great White Shank highly recommends it.
I don’t know anything about Lady Gaga, but I hear she caused a stir at the Grammys tonight. I’m kinda glad I grew up in the era I did when it comes to popular music.
Along those same lines, I’m reading once again Bob Spitz’s biography of The Beatles, no one has done a better job detailing their early years and the long and winding road that took them from Liverpool scruffs to the top of the music world. It really is a fascinating story and very much a period piece.
This is something I’ve written of before – people know less about Barack Obama than probably any person elected President in the last 100 years. The fact this continues under the radar and uninvestigated by the mainstream dino-media should be a concern to all Americans. 2008 was the year journalism died in America, and someday we’re all going to regret it. OK, so it’s a little out there, but “Coast to Coast” with George Noory (Art Bell‘s former show) remains an occasional guilty pleasure. Strange topics, strange people, but never dull.
The whole controversy about Phil Mickelson somehow cheating because he’s using twenty-year-old clubs to exploit a loophole in the PGA Tour’s restrictions against the use of square grooves just goes to show you how petty and clueless some of the Tour players are. Screw “the spirit” of the rule – either the clubs Phil is using are legal or they’re not. And since they are, until the Tour issues some ruling or restriction otherwise, accusers like Scott McCarron and his ilk should just shut up.
Maybe it’s a good idea John Daly does retire from competitive golf, at least for a while. Sure, he looks great with his new weight, but if you’re gonna wear outlandish clothes out there you better put up some numbers. I’ve watched him the last two weeks and he’s looked awful. Maybe some time away from competitive play will do him some good.
