So now I have this Blackberry for Christmas, you see, and not only does it provide me with the cell phone service I’ve always had, it’s got this handy-dandy camera that, with the help of a pretty-easy-to-use-and-configure software interface with my home computer, will enable me to take a few pictures from time to time without the hassle and cost of getting and learning to use a digital camera.
Were I going to be doing anything beyond the occasional front yard or backyard photo to illustrate some utterly inane or inconsequential observation, I’d want to learn digital photography. But I won’t, so I don’t.
Here’s my first picture taken showing our patio looking west towards the tiki bar and beyond. Note the funky yellow “Boat Drinks” table we ordered from Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Key West store and the petunia I’ve planted in the pot in the forefront:
Pretty cool, eh? I think the color and focus quality came out rather nice and genuine as a start. OK, so I’ll never obtain the status of photo-blogger bodhisattva my friend Rob has (check the lovely photo in his Jan. 3 post), but it should still be enough to get the job done.
I look forward to sharing a few more photos of our little hacienda here in the Valley of the Sun as the year proceeds.

Green grass? In January?
Most cell phones and Blackberry’s have better digital photography capacity than many older digital cameras. Thanks for the kind words but my skills come from trial and error. 99% of my images are still on my hard drive, never to see light of day. 🙂
