And to think a majority of American voters voted for this:
In a sobering holiday interview with C-SPAN, President Obama boldly told Americans: “We are out of money.”
C-SPAN host Steve Scully broke from a meek Washington press corps with probing questions for the new president.
SCULLY: You know the numbers, $1.7 trillion debt, a national deficit of $11 trillion. At what point do we run out of money?
OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we’ve made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we’ve seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.
And what’s the One’s prescription for dealing with this “sobering” fact? Why, spend and tax our way out of it by nationalizing health care! Yeah, that’s the ticket:
…So we’ve got a short-term problem, which is we had to spend a lot of money to salvage our financial system, we had to deal with the auto companies, a huge recession which drains tax revenue at the same time it’s putting more pressure on governments to provide unemployment insurance or make sure that food stamps are available for people who have been laid off.
So we have a short-term problem and we also have a long-term problem. The short-term problem is dwarfed by the long-term problem. And the long-term problem is Medicaid and Medicare. If we don’t reduce long-term health care inflation substantially, we can’t get control of the deficit.
So, one option is just to do nothing. We say, well, it’s too expensive for us to make some short-term investments in health care. We can’t afford it. We’ve got this big deficit. Let’s just keep the health care system that we’ve got now.
Along that trajectory, we will see health care cost as an overall share of our federal spending grow and grow and grow and grow until essentially it consumes everything…
Congratulations, America – in return for electing someone who has never even managed a lemonade stand in his life, someone you’ve put in the Oval Office solely on his ability to talk pretty and make hearts swell with soaring rhetoric he doesn’t write himself and couldn’t recite without the use of a TelePrompTer, you now have an elected leader who willingly admits that while we have no money, the only way out of this pedicament is to tax and spend.
With his comments today, I think it’s fair to say the emperor’s clothes are officially off. He’s always been fraud and a pretender – someone without an original idea in his bones, and one who thinks of the Presidency the same way a teenager thinks of the week ahead as he watches his parents drive away for a vacation. The Oval Office is his own personal candy store, his ticket to gaining and consolidating the power he’s always longed for in order to shape the world to his own socialism-loving, America-hating worldview, and he’s now greasing the skids to use the country’s dire economic situation to institute his own “final solution”.
As if this in and of itself isn’t tragic enough, the sobering truth is there’s no one in Washington – in either party – with the credibility, intergrity, and balls to stand up to this kind of madness. Think about it: has there ever been a time where our elected leaders have been so corrupt and so brazen in their inherent dishonesty? Not only are they a bunch of lying, cheating thieves you wouldn’t even trust lending a $20 to, they’re so in bed with their own vested interests that the nation’s capital should be renamed the National Whorehouse.
The whole thing makes me angry and ought to make every American angry as well. This is nothing but sheer incompetence on display at the highest rungs of the government ladder. It ought to be enough to generate a real revolt of the citizenry, but this country is so morally bankrupt and spiritually sick that all you’ll hear are Obama’s syncophants in the mainstream media nodding their heads in amazement at how pretty this President can talk, how good he makes them feel, and how the government will come to our rescue to cure everything that ails us.
Folks, this fish is rotting from the head down. In order to finally cast off our national guilt about slavery, we’ve put the nation in the hands of a power-hungry thug we still know virtually nothing about – after all, his own birth certficate and detailed health and education records have yet to been released – but one who we do know has had his worldview shaped and molded by the radical teachings of Saul Alinsky and one we know has little concern about the ethics of those he has chosen to surround himself with.
But give the guy his due: what he’s not is dumb, and this is the one thing that should frighten Americans more than anything else. A closer look at Obama’s words above tells you exactly what we can all expect in the coming months – more apologies for the evils this country has done, and class warfare and wealth redistribution on an unprecedented scale all in the name of reducing health care costs “for the common good”.
Don’t believe me? That’s fine. Even the Goodboys joke that no one listens to The Great White Shank. But that doesn’t mean he’s wrong…
In the end, this is nothing but facism, pure and simple. Once Obama and the government he presides over controls your health care, there’s nothing stopping them from using the argument of controlling health care costs to control every other aspect of your life, from your health care and behavioral and lifestyle choices to the way you live and spend your money. That is, if you still have any left to spend.
You can pooh-pooh this rant all you want and call me just another frustrated conservative or libertarian or whatever – frankly, I don’t give a rat’s a$$. But mark my words, these are dangerous times and this is very dangerous thinking. On this Memorial Day weekend, while remembering the lives of those who fought the cause of freedom for millions of people over the years, we should ponder the impending death of the very freedoms and life they fought to preserve.
