I know what you’re thinking: how can I miss you if you don’t go away? Well, hard to believe I actually have a few minutes to catch up on a few items of note.
Looks like today is the last of a record-breaking heat. It’s only May, and we’ve already had fourteen straight days of 100+ degree temps. Seems a tad early for that kind of nonsense, methinks.
And last night we had our first monsoon of the season, two months early. Thunderstorms with straight-line winds that knocked down power lines and poles just north of here. Came outta nowhere – one minute it was tranquil and humid, next thing you know we have winds blasting through from the south. Our power was fluctuating left and right, and we couldn’t shut down the computers fast enough!
Goodboy “Goose” Dwyer sent me an e-mail this morning with this story from CNN. Hard to believe Phoenix is the kidnapping capital of the U.S. Don’t think that’s as much of a problem here in the East Valley as much as it is in the Phoenix metro and West Valley areas, but it’s not uncommon to see police helicopters flying low looking for signs of human traffickers and safehouses. Hard to believe that kind of thing can be taking place around you, but there are some bad hombres out there fer shure.
I never understood the idea of putting a hockey team out in the desert Southwest, and it looks like there’s a good chance someone has finally come to their senses.
It feels so much like summer, perfect for an Aqua Velvets video. Click on the “Spanish Blue” video and enjoy the sight and dynamite sounds of this bitchin’ surf band!
