Regardless of what that misguided hairy rodent predicted yesterday when he saw his shadow, signs of spring are all over the place here in the Valley of the Sun.
Today the temperature hit 80 for the first time this year, the mourning doves are cooing on the housetops, we’ve got birds we don’t normally see at any other time stopping by for a day or two on their migration north, and a number of our bushes and cactus are showing their first flowers of the year. So take heart, Jana, Mom and Dad, you Goodboys and regular visitors to this site, spring hasn’t forgotten about you and will be there before you know it.
And if that doesn’t convince you, pitchers and catchers arrive for spring training in a week’s time.
On other topics…
What is it about Barack Obama and his penchant for nominating tax evaders for his administration? I mean, how can you rightfully be called The One when you’re already showing a lack of judgment only days after you’ve taken the oath of office? When even the New York Times is balking at your choices you know something’s amiss.
One can only imagine the howls from the mainstream dino-media if these were John McCain’s choices. Heck, they’d probably be calling for his impeachment!
That’s two Super Bowls in a row with fantastic finishes. I’m no football fan for sure, but no other major professional sport can claim such high drama on a consistent basis.
…except, perhaps, a February hockey grudge-match between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Phoenix Coyotes. 🙂
So Manny Ramirez turns down a one-year, $25 mil offer from the L.A. Dodgers. You know what that tells me? That Scott Boras has the New York Yankees in tow for something around two years / $40 mil. Wow. If they ever did that, the Bronx Bombers would be one formidable team – a bonafide shoo-in for a World Series appearance, if not championship, in 2009.
If George W. Bush were still in office, the mainstream dino-media would be comparing the plight of the people still without power in Kentucky to Katrina.
Say, does that mean Barack Obama is indifferent to the plight of suffering rural white people? Just wondering…
I always liked people who tell it like it is. Heh.
From the same article…Update: February 3, 2009
“After this editorial was published, Tom Daschle did the right thing – for himself and more important for the Obama administration – and withdrew his name from nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services.”
The article also said that these “evasions” were unintentional. Now, if President Obama had a psychic ability to know what individual’s did/did not pay on their taxes, I could hold him accountable and so could you.
Guess this may make you spit your coffee as you read it…but this is what you get when you have a bleeding heart liberal for a friend who loves to feed your wife baked cheese grits right in front of you (which also makes you spit your coffee).

This whole episode of the tax cheats points out that our new President is trying to do too many things too quickly with a staff that doesn’t have the experience or time to do proper vetting of their candidates.
This is what you get when you hire inexperience for a chief executive job. And is exactly what Republicans warned everyone about during the campaign while the lamestream media ignored those warnings and cuddled their warm and fuzzy candidate.
Sadly, we got exactly what we hoped we wouldn’t get.

Tax cheats should go to jail. If The Great White Shank were Tom Daschle I’d be in jail or calling one of those 1-800 numbers at 1 AM – you know the kind: owe 120K, settle for $3.50.
Simple fact: Democrats love to spend other peoples tax money but sure seeem to have a hard time living up to their end of the bargain. Obama’s choices are just showing what hypocrites they are.
