I'm not a horse racing fanatic, but I do like to watch the Triple Crown races. I was totally enthralled with the race that Barbaro ran in the 2006 Derby. He was magnificent. Then to see him break an ankle and ultimately have to be put down was heartbreaking. Eight Belles was even worse and I don't know if I want to even watch anymore. I hunt and fish and think I have a realistic but respectful attitude when it comes to animals. I'm really unhappy about seeing them going down in what is in the end a trivial pursuit. Maybe this is an anomaly for these high profile races, I don't know. I do know I'm pretty disturbed about horse racing right now. Yeah, this is bugging me now too.
