Problem for today…so I have these two milk crates of record albums left over from the late ’60s and the ’70s. Lots of Beatles, Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Herb Alpert, Doors, Gordon Lightfoot, etc. – just a whole cross-section of pop music from that era. What I really don’t feel like doing is going through all of them and developing an inventory based on title artist, condition, etc. That would take me more than a day to do. I doubt there are collector’s items in there, and I’m not foolish enough to believe the collection is worth hundreds of dollars or anything. Any thoughts out there on the best way to go about getting rid of them?

Hi GWS,
I too have lots of albums and want to find an inexpensive way to transfer the music to my MP3 player. Any ideas on that?

I saw a USB turntable the other day at Best Buy. It was not terribly expensive and it has me intrigued. I’m thinking about getting one of those and going through my collection of 500+ LPs and recording the cuts I liked on them and saving them to my PC. A good 200+ albums can go straight to the trash heap because they’ve been replaced by CDs or because I never liked them much (I used to buy albums on spec … if I liked the cover or had heard about them from someone else) but some of them may never make it to CD or the CD version has been shortened (I hate when they do this). Just a thought.

Me, I’m just wanting to get rid of my LPs without just tossing them out. I’m thinking of putting an ad in the Arizona Republic and having someone make their best offer.
For those interested, there’s also this company called Cassettes2CDs – http://www.cassettes2cds.com/
that does analog to digital transfer. Worth checking into.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
