* Does anyone really care what global warming “expert” Leonardo DiCaprio thinks? Do yourself a favor, Leonardo, stick to making crappy pictures.
* And the same holds true for that has-been anti-Semite ex-president Jimmy Carter. George W. Bush’s presidency is “the worst in history”? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! And, is there any shred of doubt left that when it comes to ex-Presidents, Carter has no class. What a jerk.
* Congrats to Curlin and his jockey Robby Albarado for an exciting win at the Preakness. Street Sense was good, but I think he just got beat by a better horse this day.
* …But it’s weird that on the same Preakness date a year later another horse broke down and had to be euthanized – this time, right on the track. Between that and the fact that Curlin stumbled badly coming out of the gate, were I the Pimlico folks, I’d be taking a very close look at the track and how it’s maintained.
* Another Yankee starting pitcher goes down in the first inning and has to leave because of injury. Every year, in every sport, there’s always one team that seems to be snakebitten, leading to a lost year. It would appear this is the Yankees’ year.
* But that doesn’t excuse the fact that the Bronx Bombers are old and have no pitching. And their remedy is Roger Clemens? I know it’s only May, but stick a fork in ’em – they’re done.
* Conservatives have every right to be upset at the so-called “comprehensive immigration” deal worked out between the President and certain members of Congress. It’s a disaster and, in my view, a betrayal of the nation by President Bush. Has there been any President in history (bar, I suppose, Richard Nixon), whose second term has been as much of a disappointment for his party? As far as I’m concerned he has no more credibility, and any candidate – Democrat or Republican – would be an improvement. At least with them, you’d know what you were getting.
* …Which is why the final straw has finally been laid on this camel’s back, and I’m re-registering myself as an independent. The strong on defense, limited government and government spending, protect the borders Republican party I joined several years ago has ceased to exist.
The Sox are red hot right now. Longtime fans have seen them blow big leads but 10½ up in mid May and everyone trailing them playing sub-500? The amazing thing, at least for me, is I think they can play better than they’re playing now. This is going to be a long season for the Yankees and their fans. I’m OK with that. 🙂

After listening to John Miller and Joe Morgan on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, you would have thought it was the Red Sox who were 10 1/2 games behind the Yankees, and not vice-versa. Those two are pathetic Yankees shills. Disgusting!
